Scottish Jeweller Charmian Beaton runs her contemporary jewellery gallery in Kent, southeast England.
She was born if Fife in 1976, after leaving school she travelled to Sri Lanka and India gaining experience in jewellery manufacturing and design within two large export companies. Charmian then studied jewellery at both Cardonald in Glasgow and Duncan Jordanston College of Art in Dundee Scotland, Since graduating in 1999 she has been designing and making commissions, exhibiting and selling her work in galleries and independent jewellers throughout Europe.
Charmian works in 18k gold, platinum or silver and her designs often incorporate diamonds and coloured stones. Inspiration for her work comes from many diverse areas, from the intricacies of ancient Japenese armour, through plants and seedpods to the delicate fluttering of dragonfly wings. The contrast between hard outer surfaces protecting inner vulnerability is a constant source of facination.
Natures many textures and patterns further captivate Charmian's imagination while she strives to create bold, original and beautiful jewellery. Individuality is paramount in her work. |
